LSU guard, leading scorer Antonio Blakeney declares for NBA Draft

The sophomore averaged 17.2 points for the 10-21 Tigers in 2016-17.

LSU guard and leading scorerAntonio Blakeney declared for the NBA Draft on Tuesday, which could leave new Tigers coach Will Wade with a bigger rebuilding job.

It was unclear from his announcement via Twitter whether Blakeney will hire an agent.

"It was a privilege to wear the Purple and Gold uniform alongside my teammates. It was an honor to battle with you each and every night," he wrote, in part.

A 6-4 sophomore, Blakeney averaged 17.2 points this seasonafter arriving the previous season as Florida's Mr. Basketball and one of fired coach Johnny Jones' most heralded recruits in his five seasons at the helm.

According to Draft Express, Blakeneyis rated44th among NCAA sophomores.

Wade, who takes over an LSU team that went 10-21 (2-16 in the SEC), inherits a roster that had only two seniors in 2016-17.
