Wendl and Arlt entered the Christmas break with a 100-point lead over Austrian duo Peter Penz and Georg Fischler at the top of the overall luge World Cup standings.

And the German duo, who won the World Cup title in 2011, extended their overall lead with a dominant victory as the circuit visited Koeniggsee for the second time this season.

Leading after the first run after posting 50.681seonds, Wendl and Arlt may have gone slightly slower second time out in 50.730 but that didn’t cause much damage as they won by almost a second.

Wendl and Arlt’s time was 0.876 quicker than that of German teammates Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken in second while Penz and Fischler had to make do with third 1.240 behind overall.

That is the third time this season that Wendl and Arlt and Eggert and Benecken have finished one-two with rounds six and seven again in Germany in Oberhof and Winterberg respectively.
