Darts superstar Luke Littler has poked fun at Liverpool after Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The Portuguese tactician landed in England this week ahead of taking charge of the Red Devils, with the former Sporting CP coach awaiting a work permit.

Littler hasn't been afraid to show where his footballing loyalties lie after a series of digs and quips at United's fierce rivals, Liverpool. The 17-year-old notably made light of Everton's 2-0 win over the Reds in Jurgen Klopp's final meeting with the Blues at Goodison Park in April, when the Premier League Darts visited the M&S Bank Arena.

Amorim was linked with a move to Liverpool during the latter stages of the German's tenure at Anfield as speculation swirled over who Klopp's successor would be. The likes of Xabi Alonso, Pep Lijnders and the new Man United boss were all mooted before Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot became the surprise front-runner.

Slot already has a win over United on his record after Liverpool's comfortable 3-0 win over Ten Hag's side in September.

Despite Liverpool sitting top of the Premier League, with the Red Devils trailing by 13 points, Littler couldn't resist a dig at their North West rivals - claiming that the 39-year-old turned down a move to Anfield.

"I was, on the little flight radar. It was the No.1 tracked flight with like 6,400 people," he told Sky Sports. "I've been focusing on both... mostly this!

"I don't know whether he is going to do a job, but we've got him in for some reason. Obviously, he didn't want to go to Liverpool last season or West Ham either, so he chose us."
