Luke Littler was crowned the Grand Slam of Darts champion after thrashing Martin Lukeman 16-3 in Wolverhampton on Sunday. The 17-year-old, who beat Gary Anderson 16-15 in an epic semi-final earlier in the day, eased to a comfortable victory over Lukeman to secure his first major TV ranking title.

Littler had started the tournament as one of the favourites to win the Grand Slam and eased through his group, winning his three matches including a 5-1 demolition of seventh seed Dimitri Van den Bergh. A dramatic 10-9 success over World Grand Prix winner Mike de Decker followed before Littler demolished Jermaine Wattimena 16-2 to progress to the last four.

After his remarkable win over Anderson, Littler did a job on Lukeman to pocket £150,000 in prize money and move up to fifth in the world rankings. It has been a remarkable debut year on the pro tour for Littler, who also won the Premier League back in May. With all this in mind, Liverpool Echo have taken a look at the latest news surrounding Littler and Grand Slam victory...

Littler 'happy with performance'

Luke Littler has admitted he will celebrate winning the Grand Slam by going home and playing on his Xbox. It's a typical response from the teenager, who has previously expressed his love for EAFC and gaming.

"I was very happy with my performance. The best feeling was when all the confetti came out. This is what we play for," Littler told Sky Sports.

"The World Championship changed me and changed my performance. Now the months have gone on and I'm getting used to it all. I'm going to have to get used to it for a very long time.

"This is one of the ones I wanted to win. My major record isn't the best, but it's OK now. I wanted to come here and go deep. It's even better now I've done it. It shows I'm still here.

How will I celebrate? Go home, play on the Xbox for a bit..."

"I knew coming into the tournament, if I do get my hands on the trophy, which is a long way away, I'll be up to number five in the world… number five in the space of ten months," Littler added. "There's still another two more ranking tournaments to go, so hopefully I can go a bit higher than five."
