Luke McCowan sees Hibs try FIFTH transfer bid to rival expected Celtic offer for Dundee star

Hibs have made another attempt to sign Dundee's captain Luke McCowan - with Celtic expected to rival them with an offer.

The Easter Road outfit have been determined to land the midfielder, 26, as David Gray seeks reinforcement in the engine room and he sees McCowan as the ideal man to help improve his squad. It's believed a fee of around £850k has been lodged as they attempt to convince the Dees to part with their key man.

Reports on both BBC and Sky Sports this afternoon also suggested Brendan Rodgers' league leaders have approached the club about McCowan after they gave up on Alvyn Sanches and Mateusz Bogusz to focus on Arne Engels.

But Football Scotland understands no formal bid has yet been tabled by the Glasgow giants.

Either way it's expected to be a difficult evening for Dundee as Tony Docherty's side look to stand firm unless a significant amount arrives from either club.

They are yet to agree to Hibs' terms as discussions continue.
