LUST urge takeover update

A Leeds supporters' group has called on the club to update fans on the current takeover process at Elland Road and claims the impasse is damaging manager Neil Warnock's plans for the new season.

Leeds are in talks with a group of Middle East investors understood to be fronted by Bahrain-based Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalif and confirmed at the end of last month that they had granted due diligence.

But the club have remained silent since and amid growing frustration among expectant fans, Leeds United Supporters Trust has urged the club to keep them informed.

A LUST statement said: "We understand the reasons why the current negotiation process should take place behind closed doors and have encouraged anxious Leeds fans to be patient and allow the process to run its course.

"From what we understand, no major problems have occurred during the due diligence process. While we respect that the club's last statement referred to a confidentiality clause, we believe the club could make a positive statement to the fans without jeopardising negotiations.

"We have reached the point in the summer, however, where the lack of clarity about the situation at Elland Road could impact on the team's performance next season."
