I’m A Celebrity campmates go hungry after Amir Khan fails Bushtucker Trial

The I’m A Celebrity campmates were faced with an evening meal of rice and beans after Amir Khan crashed out of the first Bushtucker Trial.

The boxer, who has admitted to never watching the ITV reality show, was unprepared to face his fear of snakes so early on in the competition and shouted: “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here,” during the challenge.

Former Olympic boxer Khan and Made in Chelsea castmember Georgia Toffolo were selected in the public vote to face the Critter-cal Rescue trial.

Khan was tasked with retrieving yellow stars from holes filled with crabs, grasshoppers and snakes, while Toffolo was locked in a box filled with cockroaches.

As Khan reached in to pull a star from out one of the sections he accidentally grabbed one of the reptiles inside, giving himself a big shock when he realised what was in his hand.

The athlete told hosts Ant and Dec: “This was my first Trial, I thought you’d take it easy on me, I’m scared of snakes.”

But the duo were unsympathetic, as Donnelly said: “You really haven’t seen the show before have you?” and McPartlin added: “We don’t take it easy on you.”

Elsewhere in the show, the celebrities discussed when they first became famous.

Khan admitted he had to stop visiting his local corner store after he won a silver medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics.

“I had to stop going to the corner shop because kids used to ask for my autograph and I never knew how to do my signature, I was only 17 and I was like ‘why do you want my autograph?’” he revealed.

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here continues Tuesday, November 21 at 9pm.
