South African veteran batsman Faf du Plessis has revealed that he is keen to get back on the field ahead of the CPL after missing out for three months due to a concussion. Du Plessis suffered a concussion during the PSL season in UAE after a drastic collision and had to miss the Hundred tournament in the UK as well.
However, he will now be returning to action in the CPL that started on Thursday as he will leading the new franchise, Saint Lucia Kings.
Du Plessis has announced his retirement from tests after expressing his desire to concentrate more on limited-overs cricket but it still remains to be seen if he will be named in the South Africa T20I side.
Faf du Plessis Desperate To Play After Three Months
Faf du Plessis explained that he has been waiting to get back on the field again after a long three-month break due to the concussion. He added that he loves the game so much and is desperate to start playing for his franchise side in the CPL. He was surprised by the recovery taking three months instead of just one month or so.
“I’m really looking forward to personally getting back on the cricket field again. It’s been a long time for me, 3 months now where I haven’t been able to play, so just desperately wanting to get out there and do what I love again. I thought I will recover in a month but it took triple the time,” he said at the jersey launch.

Faf du Plessis mentioned that he is really excited to be playing for a new franchise, the Saint Lucia Kings, and reckoned that the players in the team are looking forward. He added that the competition between the teams is going to be of the highest order.
“I am very excited about being with a new franchise with a new identity and a new team. The guys are really keen to get going. The competition is going to be really intense in terms of games. All in all extremely excited about the next three weeks ahead,” du Plessis added.
