ROSS County boss Malky Mackay described as an “exciting young talent” Saints youngster Kazeem Olaigbe after swooping to sign him on loan, as first reported by the Daily Echo.

The Belgian youth international has agreed a season-long deal with the Scottish Premiership outfit, having been a key performer for Dave Horseman’s B team last season.

Former Watford and Cardiff boss Mackay told Ross County’s website: “Kazeem is a really exciting young talent that we have been aware of for some time.

“His performances in Premier League 2 saw him nominated for the League’s Player of the Season.

“He is also a Belgian youth internationalist with Euro finals experience, who takes the next stage of his development in the Scottish Premiership.

“I would also like to thank Southampton FC for continuing to trust Ross County as a positive place for developing talent.”

The Staggies finished sixth in the Scottish top-flight last season, while having Saints duo Jake Vokins and Kayne Ramsay in their ranks.

A statement from Saints said: “The club wishes Kazeem well for the upcoming season and looks forward to monitoring his progress north of the border.”

Olaigbe has joined straight up with his Ross County teammates for their pre-season trip to Verona.

He signed a contract extension with Saints in February, keeping him at St Mary’s until 2024.
