The 2025 Super League Magic Weekend will take place in May. Rugby League Live can reveal that the event will return to Newcastle next year and will take place on the weekend of May 3rd/4th.

After leaving St James' Park for a year, the Super League weekend will return in 2025, having been held at Leeds United's Elland Road this year. It proved to be the second-lowest attended in the concept's history, with supporters not approving of the move.

Newcastle is seen by many as Magic Weekend's spiritual home and has historically been the most popular in terms of attendances. It did not take place there last year as the event was pushed back to an August date, which then clashed with the start of the football season.

That had been done to counteract an earlier date for the Challenge Cup Final, which has been moved from August to June. Provisionally, organisers were working towards Magic taking place on the August Bank Holiday weekend, but it will now take place at the start of May, which is when it was initially hosted when the concept was first introduced in 2007.

The football season will still be live at that point, but Newcastle are scheduled to travel to Brighton that weekend, leaving it free for use. The August Bank Holiday weekend would have also been during the 2025/26 season, though the weekend after is an international break and had Newcastle been away from home that weekend, it would have ensured plenty of time for the groundstaff to work on the pitch after a weekend of rugby league.

Despite that, the weekend has now been locked into place, with fixtures to be confirmed later this month. Based on the formula used to determine the schedule for the event, it will feature some bumper clashes, including Wigan Warriors against Warrington Wolves and St Helens versus Leeds Rhinos.
