DORCHESTER Town midfielder Ollie Griggs is looking forward to continuing his “special bond” with fellow new recruits Olly Balmer and Kieran Douglas.

Ex-Winchester City man Griggs moved back to the Magpies for a third spell this summer, while striker Balmer and centre-back Douglas also came across from the Citizens.

The trio helped City gain promotion to the Southern League Premier South via the play-offs at the end of last season.

And Griggs spoke of the unique relationship the three players built up while playing for the Hampshire side.

“Us three, we’ve got a really special bond,” Griggs told Echosport.

“I’ve never had it with players where I’ve been before, to be honest. We all travel together because we’re all from Bournemouth. We just spend so much time together.

“Kieran will win most headers in a game and he’s properly solid. Olly’s very direct and loves to score a goal, he’ll be very exciting to watch.

“Then, myself (will provide) a lot of hard work and battling in midfield.”

Griggs also touched on his time with Balmer, who was not offered a contract by Magpies boss Craig Laird in summer 2017.

“Us three are buzzing to be together, especially me and Balmer,” Griggs said.

“We’ve been playing for years together since we were little boys, so the bond me and him have is really cool.

“We know where each other is going to be on the pitch and how each other plays. That will be interesting for the fans to see.”
