Mahamadou Diawara Celtic transfer 'offer' as Hoops make move for Lyon teen
Celtic have reportedly submitted an offer for teenage Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diawara.
With Matt O'Riley on the verge of leaving for Brighton, Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he wants to strengthen in midfielder regardless and would like to sign TWO in the position if the Dane moves on. A number of names are on his radar, including Alvyn Sanhces, Arne Engels and Mateusz Bogusz.
Diawara is the latest name to be mentioned in connection with Celts, with a report in France suggesting an offer for the 19-year-old has been put to the Ligue 1 side. Journalist Nabil Djellit says Nantes and Lens are both also keen though. It is not clear if the Hoops' proposal is for a loan or a permanent transfer.
He made his Lyon debut last October and went on to make 13 appearances but hasn't been able to get a run of regular games.
Celtic also have an offer in for Bogusz as they step up their efforts to sign the talented Pole from MLS side Los Angeles FC while they could move for £10million rated Engels if O'Riley's move to the Premier League does go through.
Sanches is another option with the highly-rated Swiss midfielder expected to leave Lausanne but there could be heavy competition from Nice, Club Brugge, Anderlecht and Burnley for his services.
