Man 'robbed and assaulted' on seafront

A man was reportedly assaulted and robbed on Weymouth seafront.

Dorset Police received a report from a third party that at some time between 5pm on Friday, May 26 2023 and 7am on Saturday, May 27 2023, a man was assaulted near the Jubilee Clock Tower on The Esplanade, and items were stolen from him.

The police have released the information for the first time today.

The victim is understood to have sustained an injury to his head but is not believed to have required hospital treatment.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Police Constable Bryce Scott-Jones, of Weymouth police, said: “We are conducting enquiries into this incident, and I am keen to speak to anyone who might have seen what happened.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please review their footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
