A man is being hunted by police following a robbery at a bookies.

Police want to identify and trace the man in the CCTV after the robbery, which happened at the William Hill bookmakers in Chorley on Thursday (June 1).

Officers were called at 9.20pm after a man who had been in the shop on Pall Mall walked up to the lone female staff member before pushing her into a kitchen area and stealing money from a safe.

The man made off with a significant quantity of cash.

Fortunately, the staff member was not physically hurt, although she was distressed.

An investigation is now under way.

Det Sgt Gem Lashley, of South CID, said: “This must have been an extremely traumatic ordeal for the staff member, and it is lucky she wasn’t hurt.

“We now need to trace the man in these CCTV images, and I would appeal to anyone who recognises him, or anyone who has any information, to get in touch.”

Anyone who can help should call police on 101 quoting log 1366 of June 1.

Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
