Man City boss Pep Guardiola 'decides' future amid Liverpool title race
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly decided to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions. Guardiola has been in charge of the Manchester club since July 2016 but his future had looked uncertain.
With key figure Txiki Begiristain set to leave City at the end of the season, speculation surrounded whether Guardiola would follow suit. Couple this with Liverpool manager and familiar foe Jurgen Klopp deciding to leave Anfield at the end of last season, the omens suggested that the Catalan head coach could follow suit.
However, according to The Athletic, Guardiola has decided to remain in place and will sign a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months after that. Guardiola's contract announcement is expected to arrive later this week, most likely before City take on Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The news of Guardiola signing a new contract will be a big boost for City in the midst of their Premier League title challenge with Liverpool. The current champions sit five points behind the Reds and have not yet played Arne Slot's side.
Liverpool shall welcome City to Anfield on Sunday, December 1 in what could be a crucial clash in the race for the title. Upon the completion of his further year, Guardiola will have managed City for a decade.
Speaking recently about the job at the Etihad Stadium, he said: "It is a tough challenge, but I am here. It will be a tough season — we knew that from the start.
"But this is what it is. I like it, I love it, I want to face it and lift my players and try it."
