Man City named best-value club

Manchester City have another honour to put alongside the Premier League title after topping the ING Direct Value table.

The bank compares season ticket costs with Premier League performance and entertainment value at home games.

Although their Premier League title was their first for 44 years, they actually retained the Value League after topping the table last season.

Despite a six per cent price rise, City's cheapest season ticket came in at £260.

Wigan Athletic scooped second place in the value table ahead of West Bromwich Albion, Premier League runners-up Manchester United and Norwich City.

Queens Park Rangers, who narrowly avoided relegation, finished bottom of the value table, while Liverpool's miserable season was reflected in their 19th-placed ranking.

Fans were also asked if they intended to renew their season tickets, and more than half of relegated Blackburn's (56 per cent) said they would not.
