Pep Guardiola has told Benjamin Mendy it's time to fulfil his potential as Manchester City prepare to sign a new left-back in the summer.
Mendy is set to make his latest injury comeback and has been included in the travelling squad for tonight’s EFL Cup semi-final second leg at Burton.
But Guardiola is determined to bring in top quality competition for the Frenchman, with Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell high on his list of targets.

Mendy has been injured for the majority of his 18 months at City after his £49 million move from Monaco.
He suffered cruciate ligament damage within weeks of the start of last season and underwent further knee surgery in November.
It has convinced Guardiola he needs cover for the 24-year-old, with Chilwell a player City have monitored since he broke through at Leicester.
Now he has challenged Mendy to finally put his injury problems behind him.
“We can use him more, that's what I want,” said the City manager. “He just needs to be focused, be focused in your job, in what you have to do, because you have incredible potential, you are young, you can be one of the best left backs, but it depends on you.
“The other side, we cannot help you."
Guardiola also revealed he has tried to curb Mendy’s social media activity, with little success.
"I'm not unhappy about Mendy, I'm not here to change his mentality,” he added. “His way, the way he is, it is what it is. When we bought him, we knew it.
“When we talk about the training sessions, being focused, always he's perfect. But he's active in the social media, he likes to be - it's what it is. We tried to convince him, but I'm not his father.
“I'm delighted with Benjamin. To have injuries can happen, but the way he trains, the way he is in the locker room, you cannot imagine how the people love him and like to be with him, in the team spirit and everything.”
