Manchester City are without five first-team players for today’s clash with Chelsea following a string of positive coronavirus tests.

City’s meeting with Everton was postponed earlier in the week after as the outbreak in the camp developed, with the club forced to close their training ground.

City confirmed that two of the affected players were Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus, who tested positive on December 23. On New Year’s Day, Pep Guardiola revealed that five players are now unavailable to face City.

The latest Covid-19 results bring the total number of first-team personnel at the club isolating to seven, including two other staff members.

Guardiola added on Friday that the club were not yet in a position to reveal the identities of the three latest players to test positive, though goalkeeper Ederson has confirmed he is self-isolating with deputy Zack Steffen now making his Premier League debut at Chelsea.

The manager said: "I don't think the Premier League allow us to name the players but you will know tomorrow."

However, on Sunday, the club announced that Spanish defender Eric Garcia had tested positive.

Elsewhere for Guardiola, Ilkay Gundogan is fit to start following a foot problem.

City currently sit eighth in the table, but have two games in hand over leaders Liverpool. Should they win both of those, they would be a point off the pace.

Man City XI: Steffen, Cancelo, Dias, Stones, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Foden, Bernardo, Sterling
