Man City XI vs Port Vale: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup and latest injuries for FA Cup clash

Aymeric Laporte has handed Manchester City a major boost, with the centre back set to resume full training next week.

The defender has been out since damaging knee ligaments in August, but he has begun training with the squad over the past two and is expected to step up his return next week.

Pep Guardiola confirmed: “Yesterday was the first time he trained for 10 or 15 minutes - today again.

“He’s getting better, he feels good. I think in the next week he’ll complete all the training sessions with us.

“It will be dictated by how he feels, it’s more than four months out. He won’t be able to play 90 minutes straight away, it’s a process.

“The same with Leroy (Sane). I’m grateful for the physios and the guys who have been with him.”

John Stones is set to return in the FA Cup against Port Vale for the first time since pulling his hamstring against Manchester United at the start of last month, but Nicolas Otamendi is out with an unspecified injury.

Ederson is also available after illness.
