Man City XI vs West Ham: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Carabao Cup today

Manchester City will look to maintain their incredible run in the Carabao Cup against West Ham this evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side have made the competition - derided in some quarters - a hallmark of their sucesss under his management. Indeed, City have won the trophy four years in a row and, even allowing for squad rotation, surely go into the game as clear favourites.

Their lack of a striker does not appear to have had much of an impact on the Premier League champions in a domestic context.

While that may change and there were some signs of it during the Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain in September, they recently battered an impressive Brighton side 4-1 away, with Phil Foden emerging as a genuine option through the middle.

Naturally, as one of the biggest spending clubs in world football, Guardiola has a number of enviable options from which to choose even if he does look to rotate ahead of a big week.

Given West Ham’s form of late, however, it was always hard to imagine the City boss deploying a team solely made up of young players, particularly considering the respect Guardiola has shown this competition across his time in England.

Starting Manchester City XI (4-3-3): Steffen, Walker, Stones, Ake, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Mahrez, Sterling, Palmer.
