Man stabbed in Wellington earlier today

A MAN is in hospital following a stabbing in Wellington earlier today (Monday, May 29).

Police were called to Longforth Road and Victoria Street at around 2.15am.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital, although police say his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing.

Officers, who are appealing for witnesses to the assault, are carrying out ongoing enquiries.

They are treating its as an isolated incident.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Wellington.

"Officers were called to Longforth Road and Victoria Street at around 2.15am today (Monday 29 May) after a man had been stabbed.

"The victim, in his 30s, has been taken to hospital.

"His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life changing.

"We are treating this as an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing."
