Brodie Croft expressed his interest to extend his time with Salford after scooping the 2022 Steve Prescott Man of Steel award.

The 25-year-old has reignited his love for rugby league in his debut season in Super League with the Red Devils.

Croft missed just one regular season game in 2022. In those appearances, he provided 25 assists and scored seven tries. He also in the top 10 for carries, metres and clean breaks.

His impressive displays has attracted interest from the NRL. He is contracted to Salford for 2023 and expressed an interest in extending his time at the AJ Bell Stadium.

“I certainly love it here,” Croft said. “It’s a really special group of boys and I love what the coaching staff are about.

“My family are settled here, too, and hopefully Bleasey can sort something out.”

Brodie Croft grateful to Salford for showing belief in him

The Australian playmaker becomes only the second Salford player to win the Man of Steel award, following in the footsteps of Jackson Hastings who lifted the trophy in 2019.

“I’m truly honoured and humbled,” Croft said after receiving the award in Leeds, with his parents in attendance.

“It’s a reflection of the people that I’ve been surrounded by this year – Ian Blease (chief executive) and the Salford club for giving me a chance.

“I’ve loved this year so much, I didn’t want it to end.

“The journey I’ve been on this year has been unbelievable.

“It’s been a tough couple of years but Salford gave me a chance and the coaching staff had so much belief in me. It helped me grow as a player this year to an extent I probably didn’t think I was capable of.

“I had lost a bit of that enjoyment for rugby league, which is tough because that’s why we play it as a kid. You don’t think of it as a job or a chore, you think of it as something you love doing.

“The club embraced me and I can’t thank them enough.”
