Manchester City breezed past Manchester United with a supreme derby performance as the likes of Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo and Phil Foden excelled.

Eric Bailly’s own goal shut down much of the hope around Old Trafford after only seven minutes, after a pair of wonderful crosses from the visiting full-backs.

The game was truly up when Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw watched Bernardo Silva sneak in around the far-post and poke the ball home via a flap from David De Gea. The goalkeeper had been excellent with multiple saves in the preceding minutes, with this error undoing his hard work.

City dominated the second-half with United simply not turning up; Cristiano Ronaldo was quiet, Bruno Fernandes dense with errors, and Scott McTominay cumbersome in midfield.

Here, Standard Sport’s Marc Mayo hands out his scores for the players in the Manchester derby.

Manchester United player ratings: De Gea 6; Bailly 4, Maguire 4, Lindelof 4; Wan-Bissaka 5, McTominay 4, Fred 5, Shaw 5; Fernandes 4; Ronaldo 5, Greenwood 5.

Subs: Sancho 6, Rashford 5, Telles 6, Van de Beek N/A.

Manchester City player ratings: Ederson 6; Walker 8, Stones 6, Dias 6, Cancelo 8; Silva 8, Rodri 7, Gundogan 6; Jesus 7, Foden 8, De Bruyne 7.

Subs: None.
