Bayern Munich are interested in signing Man Utd midfielder Casemiro, with Thomas Tuchel a ‘big fan’ of the player, according to reports in Germany.

Casemiro only joined the Red Devils last summer, completing a surprise move from Real Madrid for around £65million.

He has been outstanding in his debut season in England, helping Erik ten Hag’s side end their six-year trophy drought by claiming the Carabao Cup.

Man Utd are evidently a lot worse without their Brazilian talisman, who has picked up three separate suspensions this term.

He was only signed after Ten Hag failed to bring in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. It has not exactly been a blessing in disguise as the Dutch international is brilliant, but what a back-up option Casemiro has proven himself to be.

There were many question marks over the signing when it was made despite the fact he had proven himself as a world-class midfielder in the Spanish capital, however.

Signing a four-year contract – with the option for a fifth – after being bought for a fee in the region of £65m at the age of 30 certainly raised a few eyebrows.

It has been money well spent with Man Utd set to return to the Champions League after winning a domestic cup competition.

After such a stellar debut season in the Premier League, Casemiro is being linked with an exit, surprisingly.

According to German outlet Kicker (via Fussball Transfers), Bayern head coach Tuchel really likes the Brazilian international and wants to bring him to the Allianz Arena.

It is said that Tuchel is after a ‘defensively strong leader’ in midfield, and who better than Casemiro?

With a ‘major upheaval’ on the cards, Tuchel has made Sadio Mane and Serge Gnabry surplus to requirements and has also made Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic a summer target.

Tuchel is a ‘big fan’ of Casemiro and ‘wants’ to sign him. And he obviously likes Kovacic, who was used in 67 matches by Tuchel during his time as Blues boss.

It is said that the 31-year-old would bring something Tuchel’s side currently ‘lacks’.

This transfer seems extremely unrealistic given Casemiro’s importance to Man Utd and the fact they only bought him last year.

Kovacic would be a much more realistic signing for Bayern with his Chelsea contract set to expire in 2024.

Furthermore, the Stamford Bridge club are a right mess at this moment in time and you could not begrudge Kovacic should he ask to leave at the end of the season.
