Manchester united may be poised to secure another big-money signing after David Moyes attended Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach last night.
The United boss flew into Germany yesterday and took in the Bundesliga clash between the league leaders and Gladbach, who are currently third. Moyes took his seat at Borussia Park before kick-off but not before chatting to Bayern president Uli Hoeness and Germany manager Joachim Loew.
There were initial suggestions that the Scot was scouting Gladbach midfielders Patrick Hermann and Max Kruse, who has been capped six times by Germany. Bayern striker Mario Mandzukic is also reported to be on Moyes’ radar.
German newspaper Bild, however, is reporting that Moyes attended the game with a man called Sascha Breese. The German is from the Sports Total agency and an associate of Kroos’ agent Volker Struth. Kroos, 24, is out of contract in 18 months time and contract talks have stalled.
If the European Cup winners choose to cash in on their midfielder, who was booked and substituted in the final stages of last night’s win, United should be able to match their €28m valuation. Mandzukic could be thrown into the deal too as Bayern seek to make room for in-coming Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.
United have displayed a willingness to spend their way out of their current slump after splashing out €42m on Chelsea attacker Juan Mata.
Bayern were comfortable 2-0 winners on the night. Thomas Müller set Mario Gotze up for the opener, on seven minutes, and added a second himself on 53 minutes. Pep Guardiola’s side are 10 points clear of second placed Bayer Leverkusen.
