Manchester United could finalise the departure of Dylan Levitt by the end of the week, according to reports.

Levitt is a Manchester United academy graduate who joined the club at the age of eight. Shortly after his 19th birthday, he made his senior debut for the club, during a November 2019 Europa League match against Astana.

However, it remains the midfielder’s only appearance for the Manchester United first team. He has since endured loan spells with Charlton Athletic in League One, Istra 1961 in the Croatian First League, and Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

The latter stint went particularly well. Levitt played 25 times in the Scottish top-flight, in which Dundee United finished fourth.

Hence, they have a Europa Conference League place to play for next season. And Levitt could be part of that journey.

According to the Manchester Evening News, talks are advanced for Levitt to make his transfer north of the border permanent.

It is claimed that Man Utd have agreed to sell the 21-year-old, who could therefore become a Dundee United player for good by the end of the week. In turn, he will be able to join them for a pre-season training camp in Spain over the weekend.

Dundee United are beating a host of EFL clubs to Levitt’s signature, including Cardiff City from his native Wales. Derby County also showed an interest before Wayne Rooney’s departure, the report claims.

Dylan Levitt aware of most prudent pathway

It is not yet clear what fee Man Utd will receive by selling Levitt. They activated an option to extend his contract until 2023 recently in order to protect his value somewhat.

The plan has been to listen to offers this summer. Now, Dundee United are firming up their plans over a permanent move that should appeal to the youngster.

He is aware staying at Tannadice Park will give him the best chance of regular gametime ahead of the World Cup. The 12-cap international will be hoping to be a part of Wales’ squad.

At club level, it seems ending his time with Man Utd will be the wisest option, as tough as it must be to permanently leave a club of that stature.
