Man Utd have the money but why would Kylian Mbappe choose them? Mind you, why would Victor Osimhen be more attainable?

V for Victor is more likely for Manchester United
The headline was Kylian Mbappe, of course, and that is quite the story from the Daily Mirror, who claim that Manchester United are one of the few clubs ‘possessing the financial might to pay the £150million-plus transfer fee to land him’. That might be so, but why would Mbappe himself join Manchester United, who have not challenged for a Premier League or Champions League title since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson?

It’s little wonder that the same report describes another player as ‘more attainable’. That player is Napoli’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who has scored nine goals in just 11 Serie A games this season. The Italian club are expected to field a whole raft of enquiries for the £60m-rated striker in January and United are likely to be in that queue.

We are finding it a tad difficult to believe he is going to give up a title race and a Champions League campaign for a battle for fourth, mind. Maybe United need to have an ‘even more attainable’ target like Ivan Toney.

It always seemed a tad fanciful that Ronaldo would have an option among the European superpowers and the idea has been dismissed by Christian Falk, who is the face and voice of Bild and probably the man with the best contacts at Bayern Munich.

that there was an meeting between Bayern and Jorge Mendes. @FCBayern is not interested in Ronaldo’ was the very simple tweet. So it’s back to the drawing board for Ronaldo, who has surely played his last game for Manchester United.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham – so yes, that’s every Big Six club – are being credited with an interest in Milan Skriniar, who is available on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

According to 90 Min, Inter Milan are yet to have an agreement in place with Skriniar, whose agents are in contact with all the above clubs.

‘Sources close to the Serie A side have stressed to 90min that talks with Skriniar have not collapsed but, with their self-imposed deadline now passed, there is an awareness that interested parties from across the globe are readying moves for the centre-back.’

It seems very unlikely that the Slovakian will agree to stay with Inter when he has such an impressive list of suitors.
