Man Utd are ready to ‘ramp up’ their interest in Atalanta’s £40million-rated striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.

Atalanta paid €17.2m to sign Hojlund from Austrian outfit Strum Graz last summer.

The 20-year-old penned a five-year contract after scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances for Sturm Graz and was rewarded with a maiden Denmark cap last September.

Having scored five goals in four games for the Danish national team and nine in his first season in Serie A, Hojlund is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new No. 9 and Hojlund would be a lot cheaper than Erik ten Hag’s number-one target, Harry Kane, who is valued at over £100m by Tottenham despite only having a year left on his contract.

It was reported by Corriere della Sera that Atalanta want at least €50m (£43m) for Hojlund, and talkSPORT are reporting that Man Utd will step up their pursuit of the Danish youngster.

This report says Atalanta’s asking price is £40m, which is a very decent fee in this market.

The Premier League giants are expected to spend big on a new striker with Kane, Hojlund, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos all on Ten Hag’s shortlist.

There will be lots of strikers on the move in the summer and Real Madrid have joined the race to sign Kane with Karim Benzema set to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.

It would not be a surprise to see Man Utd sign both Kane and Hojlund, who has been compared to Man City superstar Erling Haaland, with the talkSPORT report claiming Ten Hag ‘wants to sign two new front-men this summer’.

As well as the Spurs and Atalanta players, Man Utd are reportedly working on a deal to sign Chelsea’s Mason Mount, who, like Kane, is out of contract in 2024.

Also similar to Kane’s situation, Mount is in danger of being priced out of a summer transfer with the Blues reportedly asking for around £80m.
