Manager Barry Smith Leaves Dundee

Scottish Premier League club Dundee have parted company with their manager Barry Smith.

Dundee are bottom of the Scottish top flight, and are 15 points away from safety with 12 matches remaining this season.

A statement on the club's website said: "Dundee FC today announced that they have parted company with manager Barry Smith with immediate effect. Until matters regarding this have been formally concluded, no further statement will be made."

During his playing career, Smith made 400 appearances for Dundee, and captained the club from 1997 to 2006.

The 39-year-old returned to Dens Park as manager in October 2010 after the club went into administration.

He led the Dark Blues to second place in the Scottish First Division last season, but the team were granted approval to play in the SPL following the liquidation of Rangers.
