Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho categorically rules out Luke Shaw sale

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has categorically ruled out selling out-of-favour defender Luke Shaw, suggesting the full-back is still struggling to get back to his best after a horrific double leg break last season.

After a relatively encouraging start to this season, Shaw has not made a Premier League appearance for United since October 29th, with widespread reports in recent weeks suggesting the England full-back will be off-loaded by Mourinho at the end of this season.

Shaw’s agent was quick to dismiss suggestions that the 21-year-old was growing impatient with his lack of first team action at United, with Mourinho now offering these words of encouragement for a player signed from Southampton in a £27m deal in the summer of 2014.

“What I think is that he had a very ugly injury, really, really ugly,” explained Mourinho.

“That the facts are not just the physical point of view, but also by the mental impact so this season he has had a couple of small injuries and he needs to adapt.

“He knows what I like in a defender, he knows that I like stability, that I don’t like mistakes, that for me it is to trust a player totally and he has to work to get it. He is still a young man.”

Mourinho went on to stress he was not considering selling Shaw, as he made this defiant statement over a player he hopes to develop into a first team star once again next season.

“No, no , no … him leaving is out of the question,” he added.
