Manchester United Youngster Andreas Pereira Joins Granada on Season-Long Loan

Manchester United have confirmed that an agreement has been reached to send 20-year-old midfielder Andreas Pereira on loan to La Liga club Granada for the duration of the 2016/17 season.

A temporary exit for the Belgian-born Brazilian junior international had been expected as United look for ways to give talented fringe players the opportunity to play first-team football. The La Liga side confirmed the move later on Friday.

"I love Andreas Pereira as a player and I would love to have him in my squad. But he will go to Granada," manager Jose Mourinho said on Friday.

Pereira, who was handed a United debut by Louis van Gaal during the infamous Capital One Cup defeat at the hands of MK Dons, scored a fine goal in a pre-season friendly against Wigan in July.

That was clearly enough to make an impression on Mourinho, with the United boss keen to see how Pereira will progress with the opportunity to get more regular minutes in a top flight environment.

It follows the similar departure of Adnan Januzaj to Sunderland, a player the United coaching staff don't feel is ready to be in the first-team, but one that is considered too good to simply cut loose.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has also left on loan this month to join Wolves, but Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair, Donald Love, Joe Rothwell and Tyler Reid have been sold in permanent deals this summer to clubs at various levels in the English ladder.

As far as first-team comings and goings are concerned, Mourino has revealed that he doesn't anticipate anything more than a quiet few days at Old Trafford until the transfer deadline passes on Wednesday night.

"I am more than happy with the squad I have. 23 players is more than enough. If we have an injury, we have the young players in the academy," he said.
