Gary Neville says there is a possibility that Manchester United will sign Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann in the summer, but believes the Red Devils need to address their defensive issues at the end of the campaign.

Neville was gushing with praise for the 'incredible' Frenchman, who has been in fine form for Diego Simeone's men this season, but says Jose Mourinho's side need strengthening in a variety of areas if they are to mount a challenge for the Premier League title next season.

"The best player I saw in Spain, that you would argue is sig-nable, was Antoine Griezmann," Neville told GQ. "To me he was incredible. I thought he was fantastic to watch.

"I think the club needs the strength in all areas. I think there is an issue now at left back, particularly with what's happened with Luke Shaw in this last 24 hours. There is an issue at centre-back. I think now they need a holding midfield player. And they still need one or two more forwards."

Manchester United currently occupy fifth place in the Premier League table, five points behind city rivals Manchester City, who lie in fourth. Neville, who won countless trophies during his playing career at the Theatre of Dreams, does not think United have the sufficient "quality and talent" to qualify for the Champions League this season and believes Mourinho needs three or four top-tier additions.

"The quality and talent isn't there at the moment to be able to get us into that top four," the Manchester United stalwart added. "It's not happening. However, we'll see after one more transfer window – I would be amazed next season if Manchester United weren't pushing up nearer to the top of the league. It needs that three or four more players and I think that ultimately he'll get them.
