However, when speaking to Telefoot on Sunday, the 26-year-old said: “My future? I only care about what happens on the pitch. I am happy in Madrid. Nothing changes.”
United’s pursuit of Griezmann was “deprioritised” last month, with Old Trafford officials considering a move too complicated to pull off.
Simeone refused to rule out the possibility of Griezmann leaving this summer last week, despite the France international offering to stay if his manager gave assurances on his own future.
“Griezmann said to me: ‘If you stay, I'll stay,’” Simeone revealed last week, only to add: “But from here forward nobody knows what is going to happen. I would never force him to say.”
Simeone’s remarks are thought to have opened the door for Griezmann’s departure, but senior personnel at Old Trafford believe he would ideally like to join Real Madrid.
