Manchester United vow to focus on ‘togetherness’ as club respond to explosive Cristiano Ronaldo interview

Manchester United insist their focus remains on “togetherness” following Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview.

The 37-year-old made a raft of revealing comments during an interview with Piers Morgan on Talk TV, in which he criticised manager Erik ten Hag and accused the club of betrayal.

Ronaldo’s second stint at Old Trafford has not gone to plan, with the Portugal captain refusing to come on as a substitute against Tottenham and duly leaving the stadium before full-time.

Ten Hag did reintegrate the player into his squad following that breach of discipline but Ronaldo’s comments have only added the problem.

A statement from the club, released on Monday afternoon, read: "Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo. The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.

"Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans."
