Manchester United vs Newcastle: Premier League prediction, kickoff time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results, odds today

Cristiano Ronaldo will make his Manchester United return when Newcastle visit Old Trafford today.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner completed his sensational return to the club from Juventus on transfer deadline day and was expected to make his second Red Devils debut on Saturday after being released early from international duty with Portugal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United will return from the first international break of the season sitting third in the Premier League and two points off top spot after following the demolition of Leeds and draw at Southampton with a narrow 1-0 win at Wolves secured by Mason Greenwood that saw them break Arsenal's record of 27 Premier League away matches unbeaten.

Solskjaer confirmed that Ronaldo is set to feature at Old Trafford.

They will be firm favourites to see off a Newcastle side that remain winless in 2021/22 under Steve Bruce after a late draw with Southampton followed defeats by West Ham and Aston Villa as well as Burnley in the Carabao Cup.

A familiar lack of new arrivals on Tyneside has left many fans already resigned to a likely relegation scrap this term.

Man Utd vs Newcastle team news

Ronaldo aside, United are without Marcus Rashford, who remains sidelined after shoulder surgery, but Scott McTominay was back on the grass at Carrington this week after a groin operation.

Alex Telles is also back in training after an ankle injury, while Dean Henderson, Edinson Cavani and Fred were similarly involved.

Jadon Sancho is expected to be available after a knock disrupted his international break.

Newcastle’s poor start to the season has been compounded by a lengthy injury list, meanwhile, and both Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser will miss the game.

Steve Bruce has been spared a further headache after Paraguay confirmed they would not enforce a ban on Miguel Almiron for missing their international fixtures.

Freddie Woodman has been deputising in goal for the Magpies of late with Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow sidelined.

Man Utd vs Newcastle prediction

There is a great sense of anticipation with the potential for Ronaldo to make his hero’s return here, even if it is from the bench.

His presence has the potential to be a sizeable distraction and United have looked a bit off the boil in their last two outings.

However, Newcastle have endured a fairly miserable start to the campaign with injuries and no major signings contributing to the latest sense of gloom at St James’ Park.

Comfortable home win.
