Manchester United 0-1 West Ham LIVE! Lanzini goal - Carabao Cup result, match stream and latest updates today

Manchester United vs West Ham LIVE!

Manuel Lanzini was the hero as West Ham inflicted revenge on familiar opponents Manchester United.

The Argentine’s early effort was enough to seal the Hammers’ progress into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup and ensure they bounced back from their late loss against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the Premier League on Sunday.

West Ham’s first win at Old Trafford since 2007 could have been more comfortable, but Andriy Yarmolenko struck the woodwork late on and Mark Noble also spurned a glorious chance to properly atone for his nightmare last-gasp penalty miss at the weekend.

A tough test against Manchester City now awaits David Moyes and Co in the last 16, with Pep Guardiola’s team bidding for a record-breaking fifth successive Carabao Cup triumph.

City have not lost a match in this competition since way back in October 2016 and thrashed third-tier Wycombe 6-1 on Tuesday.

The players are out at Old Trafford.

19:38 , Jack Rosser

Not long to go now and the Hammers fans who have made the trip up are starting to find their voice in the away end.

19:36 , Jack Rosser

West Ham will be hoping lighting doesn’t strike twice in the space of four days with Jesse Lingard facing them from the off here after scoring the winner on Sunday.

Moyes had hoped that the attacking midfielder would be lining up in claret and blue once more here tonight but will just be hopeful he doesn’t hurt them again this evening.

19:20 , Jack Rosser

From the Manchester United side, the relief for David Moyes will be that Cristiano Ronaldo is rested completely, not even making the bench.

19:08 , Jack Rosser

The big surprise from West Ham is no Michail Antonio in the squad this evening. He’s available again after suspension.

Noble: Turning down penalty would have ‘haunted’ me

18:18 , George Flood

Discussing *that* penalty miss in the build-up to this second clash with Manchester United, Mark Noble said snubbing the call to come on and take the spot-kick would have “haunted him” for the rest of his life.

“It would have been lovely in my last season to have scored so, obviously, missing hurt,” said Noble, who will retire as a West Ham player at the end of the season.

“The thing I take out of it was that if the manager had asked me and I’d had said ‘No’, that I didn’t want to take it… I can live with missing, that’s not a problem with me, but would I have been able to live with saying no and sitting there and watching somebody else take it, not knowing ‘What if’?

“That would have haunted me for the rest of my life, so I take a bit of strength out of that.”

Standard Sport prediction

18:00 , George Flood

West Ham’s squad depth is likely to be tested throughout this season and in comparison to the Premier League and their European exploits, the Carabao Cup is likely to be of little priority.

Manchester United 3-0 West Ham

West Ham team news

17:56 , George Flood

David Moyes is set to ring the changes when West Ham travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup tonight.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leeds in the Premier League, Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Kurt Zouma are among the players who are expected to be rested for the third-round tie.

Captain Mark Noble is likely to get a rare start in midfield as he looks to put his dramatic late penalty miss against United on Sunday behind him.

New signing Alex Kral is in line to make his debut, while follow new boy Nikola Vlasic should also get a start.

Alphonse Areola is set to start in goal and Craig Dawson and Issa Diop are set to come in at centre-half.

Michail Antonio is available again after he was suspended for Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to United but he is unlikely to feature as Moyes manages his workload.

West Ham predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Areola; Fredericks, Dawson, Diop, Masuaku; Noble, Kral; Vlasic, Lanzini, Fornals; Yarmolenko.

Manchester United team news

Jesse Lingard will start for Manchester United tonight, while academy forward Anthony Elanga is also set to be involved.

Lingard enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Hammers last season but returned to Old Trafford this summer and came off the bench to score the winner at the London Stadium in Man United’s dramatic 2-1 victory in the Premier League on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Alex Telles is back in training and will be in the squad for the first time this season, having been out since picking up an ankle injury in preseason.

“Anthony was terrific in pre-season - his attitude, his enthusiasm, his directness. I love to see players like this,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.

“He was disappointed not to travel down to West Ham (on Sunday) but he scored for the Under-23s and now he’s ready. He’ll be involved in the squad. Alex has worked well and will be in the squad as well.

“We lost nobody on Sunday so it’s the same squad or same pool of players to choose from. We know it’s early on in the season and some players need minutes to get their proper fitness up so I will make a few changes.”

Man United likely XI: Heaton, Telles, Bailly, Lindelof, Dalot, Matic, Van de Beek, Mata, Sancho, Lingard, Martial
