Manchester United's £60m opening bid for Jadon Sancho rejected by Borussia Dortmund

Manchester United have seen an opening bid rejected for Jadon Sancho, who has revealed discussing the move with his England team-mates.

Borussia Dortmund have turned down an offer of around £60million plus clauses and are holding out for a deal starting at £77.5million before add-ons. They have also set a deadline of July 23 for a deal to be completed before they start their pre-season camp.

United are set to step up their attempts to bring the 21-year-old to Old Trafford a year after they failed to strike a deal with the German club, with discussions ongoing.

Sancho has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s primary target this summer for the wide-forward position he has been wanting to fill in the last two seasons. He has been on England duty ahead of the European Championships where a move to United has been discussed.

"Of course all the boys have a lot of questions, you know,” Sancho said. "I feel like that's with a lot of players because we're all such great young talents and when you do well speculation is always going to come around.

"Again, I just tell the boys, 'look, I'm just focused on football at the moment' and we just focus on the Euros, step by step."

Sancho has remained in Solskjaer’s thinking in the season after Dortmund’s asking price of £108million was not met by a bidder, or lowered by the Bundesliga club. Despite his future looking uncertain at the start of the campaign he returned eight goals and 11 assists in his league matches.

He feels his progress has gone under the radar after being away from the Premier League for four years.

"I think that's normal because obviously the Premier League, you know, is the most probably the most watched league in the world,” he said.

"Me being in Germany, obviously all the German spectators will be watching German football so I think that's a bit normal. But I've just been playing my game, me and Jude (Bellingham), just being focused on trying to win things for Dortmund.”

Sancho says he will block out the distraction of a Premier League return during the Euros, with Dortmund not expecting a deal to be completed during the tournament.

"You know, every time I'm on a pitch I'm always giving my all and obviously to create with what I do on a pitch and that's with goals and assists,” he said.

"There's always going to be speculation, especially when you do well. It's just how you handle that on the pitch and just keep doing what you're doing.

"If you keep on doing that then I'm sure that won't be a problem because the main thing is my football and that's what I'm focused on at the moment."
