Mansfield 2-2 Hartlepool: Josh Umerah double earns comeback draw

HARTLEPOOL United came from two goals down to earn a point against Mansfield as striker Josh Umerah came off the bench to bag a brace at Field Mill.

Pools fell behind in the early stages of the second half thanks to a goal from Josh Lapslie before Riley Harbottle doubled the Stags lead just before the hour mark.

Umerah seized upon a mistake in the Mansfield defence to round the keeper and pull a goal back and give Pools a lifeline. The striker then notched his fifth goal of the season in the 89th minute with a smart finish inside the box to salvage a point.

The result lifts Pools off the foot of the League Two table but they remain in the relegation zone on goal difference with the division’s other games still to be played this weekend.

Interim boss Keith Curle is unbeaten in his first two games in charge of the club. He leads his side out on Tuesday night at the Suit Direct Stadium when Doncaster Rovers make the trip to the North-East.
