Manu Ginobili attempts to miss foul shot, instead makes absurd free throw

How did that work?

The Spurs were down by three points with 2.5 seconds left in Wednesday night's game against the Trail Blazers and ManuGinobili was at the foul line. There wasn't enough time left to let Portland have a possession, soGinobili's strategy was the following: Make the first free throw, intentionally miss the second free throw and have a teammate rebound and put a shot up.

Part one of this strategy failed as he missed his first free throw. That's OK, if he misses the next one his team can still rebound the ball and shoot a 3-pointer to tie it up. Just step up to the line, hurl the ball towards the basket and have a long rebound out to your teammates.

Aaand go:

Well, that didn't work.

You would think missing a free throw would be easy. Andre Drummond does it all the time. But Ginobili found the most insane way to make a free throw, and as you might have guessed, the Spurs ended up losing.

The rebound-and-make-a-three strategy was a longshot anyways, but it would have been nice to at least have a chance.
