Former Chelsea chief executive Marina Granovskaia was back at Stamford Bridge during the 2-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Granovskaia, who spent over ten years at Chelsea, departed the Blues shortly after former owner Roman Abramovich sold his ownership stake in the club following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Russian-Canadian business executive was responsible for making Chelsea an attractive proposition for some of the world's best player during her tenure in west London.

She left her role in 2022, shortly after Todd Boehly had bought the club. However, Granovskaia still has a deep fondness for the Blues.

She documented her visit on social media, sharing multiple photos via Instagram. "'First time in with the supporters at Stamford Bridge and, no, I was not tall enough to see the goals! But wonderful to be back to witness such a great performance and important win!," the businesswoman wrote.

The post prompted a number of responses from Chelsea fans, with one responding: "Our Queen," before a second added: "Once a Blue, forever a Blue."

A third continued: "Proper Chels, through and through," and another commented: "Good to see you back Marina." Another fan simply said: "Welcome back marina. Thanks for all you have done for Chelsea."

While many supporters would welcome Granovskaia back into the fold, it is unlikely she would return under the Boehly regime. Meanwhile, Chelsea climbed fifth in the Premier League with goals from Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer, while Alexander Isak scored the only goal for the visitors.

The Blues will face Eddie Howe's team once again, but for the Carabao Cup at St James' Park on Wednesday night. That will be followed by a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the league on Sunday.

United have sacked their manager Erik ten Hag following their 2-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium and Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over as interim boss.
