M&S launches five new face covering designs for adults and children

If you’d asked us a year ago to put a face mask on every time we entered a shop or while at the cinema, we’d have found the idea bizarre.

But now, it’s become so normal to fish your face covering out of your bag as you head towards the supermarket for your daily essentials.

Which is lucky, as the rules around face masks are about to change in line with new government guidance outlined by Boris Johnson.

The Prime Minister spoke to MPs from the House of Commons on Tuesday lunchtime, ahead of a televised address to the nation at 8pm.

He confirmed a series of measures, which had been teased ahead of the announcement, including a 10pm curfew on pubs and restaurants and new advice on working from home.

He also extended the rules on face coverings in England, making their use mandatory for retail staff, taxi passengers, and hospitality customers.

This means that anybody going to a pub or restaurant (before 10pm) will have to wear a mask unless they are seated at a table to eat and drink.

Children under the age of 11 do not need to wear face coverings and the Public Health England does not recommended face coverings for children under the age of 3 for health and safety reasons.

Following on from the previous announcement of £10,000 fines for people who fail to self-isolate when required, the penalty for failing to wear a face mask or breaking the ‘rule of six’ has been doubled to £200 for the first offence.

So, with that in mind, we’re all going to need more face masks to add to our rotating collection!

The announcement comes in line with Marks & Spencer launching five new face mask designs, including one for adults and four for children, all available for £9.50.

Back in July M&S launched its affordable range of face coverings, the adult designs swiftly selling out.
