Martin Bravo Finishes Claudio Puelles to Win TUF Latin America 3 (UFC Mexico City Results)

The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 lightweight tournament concluded on Saturday at Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City.

Former light heavyweight champions Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin coached 16 lightweight hopefuls and each of their top picks advanced to the finals.

Mexico’s Martin “Toro” Bravo (10-0) from Team Griffin took on Peru’s Claudio “El Nino” Puelles (7-1) from team Lidell for the title of The Ultimate Fighter.

Bravo took the fight to Puelles from the sound of the opening bell. He pressed forward, landing his jab at a regular rate.

Puelles looked to get the fight to the ground several times, but was only able to secure one takedown. Bravo quickly worked his way back to his feet without difficulty and went back to landing his jab and setting up combinations to the body and head.

Bravo picked up the pace in the second frame and went on the offensive. He landed combinations and backed Puelles up to the fence and unloaded to the body. A shot to the liver crumbled the Peruvian and Bravo finished him off with strikes on the ground.

“I was very well prepared physically and mentally. Claudio is a very tough fighter and I think that he's going to have a very promising future here in the UFC,” said Bravo following the TKO win.

Attacking the body is something Bravo works on extensively and it payed off on Saturday.

“That's a move that I've been practicing for a very long time. I saw the opening and I took it,” he said about the finish.
