Rennes striker Martin Terrier has insisted that he feels no reason to leave for Leeds United or Liverpool, despite appreciating the interest.

The 25-year-old has reportedly emerged on the radar of both Premier League clubs this summer. The links with Leeds are more obvious because of their known desire to sign another goalscorer.

What’s more, they have history raiding Rennes after their Raphinha swoop in 2020 proved so successful.

Liverpool have already bolstered their front line with Darwin Nunez, but the links with Terrier are nonetheless apparent.

According to the player himself, though, Frenchman Terrier has declared that he sees his future with Rennes next season.

“If I intend to be part of this framework? Of course, I feel good here,” the attacker told Foot Mercato.

“When you have a good season, it’s flattering to have certain clubs that are interested in you, but I’m good here.”

Terrier, a former France Under-21 international with seven goals in 13 outings in that age bracket, moved to Rennes in July 2020, shortly before Raphinha left for Leeds.

He scored nine goals and assisted eight others in his debut season, while also starring in the Champions League.

Last term, Terrier’s form significantly improved and he tallied 21 Ligue 1 strikes and seven assists.

The transfer interest from Leeds, Liverpool and reportedly West Ham too has therefore emerged. But Terrier has three years left on his Rennes contract and wants to honour at least one more season of those terms.

Martin Terrier a Leeds priority – but not Liverpool

Leeds have eyes on Terrier as they look to freshen up their front line. They have added former Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra but are aware they could do with a new out-and-out striker.

And given Terrier’s recent rise at Rennes and the success Raphinha had at Elland Road after leaving the Ligue 1 club, it is no surprise to see them keeping tabs on the French side’s top tallent.

Liverpool, though, look to have finished their incoming transfer business already.

Ex-Benfica man Nunez could end up costing a club-record £85million if all goes well, following an initial £64million investment.

However, the Reds feel he is worth every penny and do not look likely to further add to their attack this summer.
