Mary Berry: I have been to bed with some pigs in my youth
Mary Berry has revealed she used to share her bed with piglets when she was younger, insisting they are not dirty animals.
The former Great British Bake Off judge grew up on a smallholding in Somerset and her family kept pigs.
Berry told the Radio Times:“I was known to swaddle one and take it to bed with me.

“Only the runt, the little one that we had to feed from a bottle.
“There’s nothing dirty about a pig - don’t believe otherwise.”
And the 85-year-old celebrity chef - who is set to guest edit BBC’s Countryfile this Sunday - also admitted her pet piglets would go on to become family meals, and she did not have a problem with that.
Berry said: “Dad was very hands-on. We’d have the carcass back and he’d cut it up,” she tells Radio Times.
“We even made sausages and, of course, nothing was wasted. It was just what we accepted.”
Earlier this year the TV cook confided she had never had a takeaway in her life.
She said: ““I have never had a takeaway. Why should I? I can muster up things very quickly and there are many things that you can buy to help you if you are busy and which don’t cost that much extra, like grated cheese.”

Berry stepped down as a judge on The Great British Bake Off in 2016 when it moved to Channel 4.
She was replaced by Prue Leith who joins Paul Hollywood and new host Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding when the show returns to Channel 4 for its 11th later this year.
Producers recently revealed that despite filming in socially distanced conditions the baking contest will not look any different than usual.
Head of Popular Factual for Channel 4 Kelly Webb-Lamb said:“[The] set is Covid-secure and that enables a little bit more flexibility so in the tent what you will see looks like normal Bake Off because it it is normal Bake Off and we’ve been able to do that."
