Mason Greenwood: Man Utd verdict imminent as most likely outcome is named and six sides present offers to sign attacker
Manchester United are reportedly nearing a final verdict on the future of Mason Greenwood with a report detailing what will be the likely decision they will come to.
The 21-year-old has two years left on his deal at Old Trafford, though it remains largely uncertain if he will ever turn out for the club again. Indeed, his last outing for United came in a 1-0 win over West Ham on 22 January 2022.
But amid ongoing claims he won’t ever play for the club again, there is no shortage of interest in his services.
That chase is being led by Juventus, who want to take Greenwood on an initial loan deal. But there is also interest from elsewhere in Italy, with Roma and AC Milan also reportedly considering approaches.
Furthermore, Greenwood has offers from three other unnamed sides too – all believed to be from Turkey.
To that end, his career in the game looks set to continue. And at this stage, it remains a case of ‘where’ not ‘if’.
Greenwood’s chances, however, of turning out for United again appear slim.
He has been suspended by Man Utd since he was arrested on suspicion of rape and other related offences in January 2022.
Although the charges against him were dropped in February 2023 due to the withdrawal of witnesses and new material coming to light, Man Utd are still conducting their own internal investigation. As a result, he has been asked to stay away from the club until a decision is reached.

Man Utd close to reaching Mason Greenwood decision
However, is was reported earlier this year that his potential comeback has split senior players at Old Trafford. Indeed, those players were described by The Times as having ‘stark concerns’ about his reintroduction to the team. Female staff members share a similar viewpoint. And some of the club’s commercial partners are also keeping a close watch on the situation.
In addition, Manchester United’s Women’s team, who are currently four point clear at the top of the WSL, are also said to be ‘deeply uncomfortable’ over the prospect of Greenwood’s return.
United have considered the possibility of Greenwood’s slow intergration back into the side. Per The Athletic, that could involve him conducting a TV interview to explain himself. As part of that course of action, it’s suggested Greenwood may also have undergo therapy as part of a phased return to first-team football.
However, reports in Italy believe there is less and less chance of him playing for United ever again.
And Calciomercatoweb believe it is looking increasingly likely that a loan to Juventus will be on the cards.
Indeed, they reportedly intend to take Greenwood on an initial season-long loan. Any such deal will likely contain an option to buy. Indeed, United are well aware they are not in a position to get anywhere near his market value right now.
Timing of Greenwood decision emerges
In that regard, a loan to Italy – and away from the UK media – looks the most likely outcome.
United continues to delay any decision over the star, focusing instead on their task in hand. Erik ten Hag’s focus, understandably, has been on the players he has at his disposal.
But it’s believed that a firm decision on Greenwood will come to light once the season comes to an end.
And with a parting of ways now looking likely, Greenwood will hope to rebuild his career overseas.
