Mason Mount faces a race to be fit for Chelsea’s clash with Juventus.

The midfielder, who missed Saturday’s defeat by Manchester City with a minor knock, was seen moving comfortably around Stamford Bridge, raising hope he will be available for Wednesday’s Champions League tie.

Thomas Tuchel revealed it will be a late call to decide if Mount is back in contention. “I absolutely don’t know,” said the Chelsea boss. “It will be a matter of the end hours if he makes it or not, but this is for Mason [to decide].”

Reece James will also have to see how he recovers from a twisted ankle, which saw him limp out midway through the first half against City.

Tuchel expects an immediate reaction from his players after being left furious by their performance in the 1-0 defeat, which ended their unbeaten start to the season.

“We are not happy with how we played,” he said. “We always look at the performance, never the result.

“You need to be at the very best level in all parts of the game and we were clearly not. We will look into it now with all the self-reflection needed and in the end we also have to accept they [City] were better than us.”
