Massive Kobe Bryant mural pops up in Bosnia and Herzegovina, potentially largest in Europe
Countless murals of Kobe Bryant have popped up all across Los Angeles and Southern California in the months since his death.
The best — well biggest — one honoring the former Los Angeles Lakers star, however, is sitting halfway around the world.
A massive 39-foot tall mural of Bryant was finished at an elementary school in Gradiška, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Artist Deni Božić, along with a group of locals, completed the mural, which spans 19-feet wide on the side of the building. It’s reportedly the largest mural in Europe, too.
The image features Bryant — who, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others, was killed in a helicopter crash outside of Los Angeles in January — in his gold Lakers jersey preparing to take a shot with a blue sky and clouds behind him and the Mamba logo in the top corner.
“Kobe Bryant was one of my role models and when we heard that he tragically lost his life, we came up with the idea to pay tribute to him,” Igor Damjanović, one of the artists, said, via the Srpska Times. “That is how we made a mural on the wall of the school next to which we spent time on the playground”
Though it may take a bit of work to get there, and it’s unclear who is keeping track of the largest murals in Europe, it seems the superior Bryant mural has finally been found.
