Czechs bounced out by Hungary

Czech Republic suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Hungary in Prague in their final home match before the Euro 2012 finals.

Czech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky missed his side’s last warm-up match against because of injury with coach Michal Bilek confirming that the Arsenal midfielder will start training on Monday.

He will have recovered from his calf muscle injury in time for their first game of Euro 2012 against Russia on June 8, but was probably missed in a match that saw Hungary rewarded for a smart counter attacking policy.

The home side were caught napping on six minutes when Hungary struck. Goalkeeper Petr Cech was organising his defensive wall while Balazs Dzsudzsak was chipping the ball into the net as Cech failed to get back across his line to prevent the ball from crossing the line.

The home side equalised on 25 minutes courtesy of a Michael Kadlec penalty after Roland Juhasz had bundled Milan Baros to the ground. The masked man Kadlec drove the ball under Adam Bogdan, who guessed right and probably should have made the save.

Despite losing captain Roland Juhasz to injury, the visitors completed the win amid the usual rash of substitutes for such matches when Dzsudzsak picked out substitute Adam Gyurcso in space for him to smash the ball beyond the helpless Cech on 88 minutes.

The Czechs had paid the price for throwing too many bodies forward, but will hope to have learned their lessons when the serious business begins from a Group A section that also contains Greece, Russia and co-hosts Poland at Euro 2012.
