Mathare United to change strategy against Gor Mahia

Francis Kimanzi has been forced to ring changes to his matchday squad following the suspension of duo Lennox Ogutu and David Owino

Mathare United will use a different approach as they face Gor Mahia in a Kenyan Premier League match set for Sunday at Thika Sub-county Stadium.

The ‘Slum Boys’, under assistant coach Salim Ali, have not picked a win in their most recent matches, going down to Ulinzi Stars before recording a barren draw against Chemelil Sugar.

While explaining that the Chemelil Sugar draw was a great motivator, Salim is aware of Gor Mahia’s capabilities and he admits that his boys have to change their playing style in order to battle for ‘good result’.

"The draw against Chemelil Sugar was a boost for the team in terms of morale. We know Gor Mahia is a good team. They have quality players both in their starting lineup and on the bench. We will certainly have a different approach for this game.

"We have a young team and every match is part of their learning process. They have looked sharp in training and we are looking forward to tomorrow's game with renewed hope," he told the club's official facebook page.

He has named his traveling squad for the match whose kick-off is 2:00pm as per adjustments made by Kenyan Premier League Limited ahead of the encounter.

The squad: Levis Opiyo, Wycliffe Kasaya, Andrew Juma, Lennox Ogutu, George Owino (C), Abubakar Keya, David Owino, David Mwangi, Martin Ongori, Roy Okal, Tyson Odhiambo, Tyson Otieno, Crispin Oduor, Daniel Mwaura, Harrison Mwendwa, Cliff Nyakeya, Ronald Okoth, Derrick Onyango.
