Matt O'Riley wastes little time on Brighton debut as Celtic hero thanks Hoops fans

Matt O'Riley has wasted no time in making his Brighton debut just one day after completing his signing from Celtic.

The midfielder, 23, completed his record-breaking £30million move to the Seagulls after a mini summer saga involving Atalanta but he's been drafted straight into his new club's starting XI in the Carabao Cup as they square off against Crawley Town tonight.

O'Riley was on Sky Sports media duties before kick-off at the Amex Stadium and was asked by the reporter if he had any words for the Hoops fans who'd certainly be missing their star man after his exit was confirmed.

But rather than wax lyrical before a fixture, the Dane offered some words before revealing he'd formally thank punters in the coming days.

He said: "I don't know where to start. I will give a quick one now and do another one formally later.

"Thank you very much for everything. They made me feel welcome right from day one. It was quite tough to say goodbye and things happened really, really quickly as well so it was bit annoying I couldn't get to say a real proper goodbye. I will take some time after to do a proper slow message to really thank them."
